An air fryer is a popular kitchen appliance that cooks food by circulating hot air. You can cook anything, from fries to vegetables, without the need for as much low quality cooking oil or other fats. Sounds great, right? But what recipes can you cook in air fryers?

An air fryer is more versatile than you might think, with lots of fun options for recipes you could try out.
Buttermilk Chicken Tenders
Chicken tenders are a great place to start for your air fryer.
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 ½ tsps Worcestershire sauce
- ¾ tsp kosher salt
- 2/4 tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 ½ cups panko crumbs
- ¼ cup ground Parmesan cheese
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup flour
Cut the chicken into tenders. Even the thickness by tapping the thicker parts with the flat part of your knife.
Combine the buttermilk with half the Worcestershire sauce, half the salt, pepper and paprika. Pour over the chicken, and refrigerate for at least six hours.
When you’re ready to cook, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Wait until it begins to foam and it changes to a golden color. Remove from the heat. Combine the butter with the panko crumbs on a plate, add the Parmesan and toss. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the rest of the Worcestershire sauce. Get a second plate and toss the flour with the rest of the salt, pepper and paprika.
Drain the chicken. With tongs, dredge each piece of chicken through the flour, then egg and finally the panko crumbs.
Preheat the fryer to 400 °F. Put the tenders into the basket in batches. Cook for 13 – 15 minutes, flipping the chicken half way through, so they’re crisp on both sides. Serve.
- Nonstick spray
- 1 medium potato, washed and dried
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1/8 tsp kosher salt
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- Black pepper
Preheat the air fryer to 380 °F. Cut the potato lengthwise into thin slices. Cut each slice into fries. In a bowl, toss the fries with the oil. Season with salt, garlic and black pepper to taste. Toss the fries to coat them thoroughly.
Add the fries to the fryer basket, without overlapping them. Cook for 12 – 15 minutes, turning halfway through, until crisp.
You can make desserts in the air fryer too.
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- ¼ cup all purpose flour
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- Pinch kosher salt
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 egg
Grease a 6” round cake pan with some cooking spray. In a bowl, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt by whisking. In a second bowl, which the melted butter and egg until combined. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and stir.
Add the brownie better to the cake pan and smooth off the top. Cook in the air fryer at 350 °F for 16 – 18 minutes. Let the brownies cool for ten minutes before slicing.
