Taste of the Kimberley & WA is a celebration of native flavours and cultures presented by The Mantle in Fremantle. Running from March 7-26, the campaign kicks off on Tuesday 7 March with Battle of the Chefs.
The Battle of the Chefs is a six course feast featuring Kimberly produce and native ingredients cooked by notable WA chefs:
- Stuart Laws – Don Tapa
- Sam Ward – formerly El Publico head chef, now running the Más pop up
- Melissa Palinkas – Young George
- Robyn Low – Rivermint Dining
- Kiren Mainwairing – Co-Op Dining
- Sue Lewis – Sue Lewis Chocolatier
Each chef will be buddied on the evening with a young indigenous student. Guests will judge the best dish with a prize going to the winning dish.
The dinner will see the launch of an exclusive craft beer collaboration between Eagle Bay Brewing Co. and The Mantle, The Sunshine Harvest Native Lime & Anise Myrtle Wheat Beer. Art by local indigenous artist Naomi Grant will also be featured.
There are only 25 tickets to this event at a cost of $200 per head. Tickets are available here.
Other experiences throughout the campaign include indigenous art exhibitions, indigenous craft workshops and indigenous cooking classes across two weekends. Native foods will be featured in Don Tapa & Alter Ego Bar Menus during the month.
