RoyAl’s Chicken and Burgers Northbridge moves into the former Hummus Club site

RoyAl’s Northbridge store has established a strong community following, and as a result of demand they are now stepping up their game by moving into a bigger, licensed premises.

From a humble 14 seat venue to a 100-seat licensed restaurant, RoyAl’s Northbridge is moving into 258 William Street (formerly The Hummus Club). The new venue’s grand opening is set for 5pm on Friday, October 22.

Founders Al and Ken Craigie, with the support of Adam Crook, started their first estaurant in East Victoria Park and now have three RoyAl’s Chicken and Burgers, Baby Roy’s (a RoyAl’s spin-off), Al Pastor (Taqueria and Tequila Bar), part-ownership of Drasko’s Hot Chicken, and most recently Lola’s Filipino Diner.

“Northbridge has been a humble achiever since it opened in May 2018,” says Ken. “Thanks to the support from our customers and passionate team, we are stoked to be able to make this upgrade and offer a better service to the community.”

This rebirth of RoyAl’s Northbridge comes just a year after the upgrade of the original RoyAl’s site in East Victoria Park. RoyAl’s was recently awarded the best burger in WA title in the Litt Burger of Origin competition, a welcome vote of confidence for the Northbridge project.

Overseeing the launch effort with Al and Ken is General Venue Manager, Jaughn Wilkie, who lead the establishment of their first bar offering in East Victoria Park. Original Northbridge store manager Christine Marco will be managing front of house, supported by bar manager Duncan Craigie.

Like in East Vic Park, this venue will boast a ballsy craft beer and bar menu. Recommended is the “Rocky Ridge Lofi Mai Tai”, a sour beer paying to homage to the infamous cocktail. On tap, there’s the “Voodoo Ranger IPA” and the “Beer Farm Calm ya Farm – Mid Strength Pale Ale”. The bar menu will be updated seasonally.

Chefs Hoa Nguyen and Claire Lague will lead the kitchen team, doing what they do best with burgers and chicken. There will be some main menu and dessert additions, including the Chocolate Fudge Brownie ($12).

Northbridge’s grand opening is set to go off with a bang when doors open at 5pm on Friday October 22. DJ Stylz Ali will appear from 6pm, and there will be a grand opening special of Half Price Chicken RoyAls & RoyAls with Cheese on Friday and Saturday (dine-in only). Add a pint of Calm ya Farm for $9.
