Review: Potato Utopia Mashed Potato

The @potato_utopia range has been catching my eye in the Woolies freezer section for a while (I think it’s the sexy black packaging). There’s mashed potato, gratin and fries at $6 each which isn’t cheap but also not prohibitively expensive.

I decided to try the mash, which comes in 4 cylindrical servings and can be cooked in the oven, air fryer or microwave. I love my air fryer, it’s really hard to screw up and cooks so many different things. And yes, I know I could have made real mash in the same time (25 min from frozen) but that’s not why we’re here.

These are so much better than I was expecting. The outside is nicely crisp and the inside fluffy, buttery and well seasoned. I was surprised, especially for a product from the freezer. They’re not cheap, but deliver as promised and that’s a nice change. Give them a try – I’ll be trying the gratin next.
