UPDATE: Raine Square, the Capital of Lunch in Perth’s CBD!

UPDATE:  Good news, everyone! July has been and gone, but Raine Square has extended its value for money lunch special promotion throughout August, too. Even better, if you’re one of the nearly 50% of Australians that expects to gain up to 2 kilograms this winter, Raine Square wants to help you beat the winter bulge and has asked CBD-based Dietician Boris Kazakov to put together his favourite 10 healthy lunchtime meals, all of which can be prepared quickly, using ingredients from Coles Central supermarket located in Raine Square.

Mr Kazakov, Director of Diet Biz, believes that staying healthy this winter is all about the foods you eat. “Healthy eating is all about focusing on a variety of nutritious foods that provide fuel for the body during the winter months – it’s all about eating healthy, and in moderation,” Mr Kazakov said.

Kazakov’s top 10 healthy, yet delicious, lunchtime meals are:

Located between Murray Street and Wellington Street in the heart of the city, Raine Square is home to the only CBD-based Coles store.[hr]

I must confess that I’d never been to Raine Square until earlier this week, despite working just a few minutes away on Wellington Street (further down towards Perth Arena). I always thought that I’d have to walk all of the way into the centre of town to get a variety of lunch options, but now I know differently!

Anyway, Raine Square is trying to bring our attention to the fact that 1 in 3 Australian workers eat lunch at their desk, and those that do take a lunch break are looking for quick, cheap meals that are easy to pick up and take away. I’m certainly one of those workers who isn’t really sure what a “lunch break” is, and apparently that makes me more likely to feel stressed, anxious, overwhelmed and worried at work – I’m certainly all of those things, but I’m not sure how much of that has to do with lunch!

Raine Square

This July, Raine Square is helping to take the hassle out of lunch by providing quick, easy, lunchtime meals at value for money prices. Home to the only Coles in the Perth CBD, Raine Square offers a variety of meal options from sushi to Subway.

“At Raine Square, we know it’s sometimes hard to get away from your desk to take a lunch break, and when you do, you want something quick, easy and affordable, especially for those working in the CBD area and surrounds”, said Andrew Wilkinson, Raine Square Marketing Manager.

To help shoppers discover Raine Square’s great range of lunchtime selections, and to help CBD workers add flavour to their working week, food retailers will be offering specials every weekday throughout July – whether it’s a $10 wrap and coffee from Biscotti or a 1/4 BBQ chicken and salad from Coles, there’s something for everyone.

For those who want to take some time out of the office and enjoy a lunch break, there will also be free entertainment in the Raine Square Food Court every Wednesday throughout July from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

This week’s entertainment was provided by Michael Battersby singing the hits of Michael Buble. Apparently last week they had a Jamie Oliver impersonator, who knows what they’ll have next week…

I chose the two-curry & rice special (very nice chicken madras & butter chicken) with a 300ml apple juice for a very reasonable $10 from Haweli Indian Restaurant.

My colleague Linda chose the delicious Teriyaki Chicken with a drink from Q Sushi, also for $10.

“At Raine Square, we believe lunchtime should be an opportunity for you to spend your time the way you want to – which may mean grabbing a quickly prepared meal, something freshly made or just being able to grab a coffee while using the free WIFI here,” tells Mr Wilkinson. There’s an impressive 570 seats in the food hall, so plenty of room to bring your workmates!
