Friends of Good Food Month Showcase Their Talents

Perth Good Food Month presented by Citi is a highlight of the WA foodie calendar, featuring the Night Noodle Markets at Elizabeth Quay and a host of meals and deals across Perth. In association with City of Perth, this year’s program showcases talented newcomers, industry greats and collaborations with some of the country’s top chefs.

The “Friends of Good Food Month” part of the festival allows some of Perth’s best restaurants to host unique experiences that demonstrate their culinary expertise. I attended three of these events to see what was on offer.

Canteen Pizza: Pizza & Pinot

Cottesloe’s Canteen Pizza was built by the crew from top Italian restaurant Il Lido and serves great Naples-style pizzas and porchetta. It won the “Best Casual Dining” award in the West Australian Good Food Guide 2018.

Every Monday night in April you will receive 50% off pinot and champagne to enjoy alongside your pizza. King of Oysters Jerry Fraser will be shucking from 4pm (starting at $18 for 6 – don’t forget the hot sauce!) and a DJ will be on the decks from 5pm.

There’s no better reason to return to Canteen Pizza or pay a visit if you haven’t been before. See here for more information.

5pm – late, Mondays throughout April 2019

Bar Uma: Steak Sandwich (and $10 Pisco Sours!)

Uma Restaurant and Bar Uma in the Pan Pacific Hotel have brought the spirit of Incan heritage to Perth. Award-winning chef Alejandro Saravia’s modern take on Peruvian cuisine fuses authentic Peruvian flavours with the best of WA’s sustainable produce.

Bar Uma is the restaurant’s sister cocktail bar and offers a range of bar snacks. Its Good Food Month special is this unique steak sandwich filled with tender slices of marinated grass-fed beef, salsa criolla and Huancaina sauce on a soft Peruvian style bun with warrigal greens and potato crisps.

Also throughout April, Bar Uma is offering $10 Pisco Sours between 5pm and 6pm daily and Uma Restaurant’s stunning Journey menu costs just $69 every Saturday.

Cocolat Raine Square: Dessert Tapas for Two

Cocolat was established in Adelaide in 1992 and specialises in chocolate indulgences and desserts. Whether you’re after a morning coffee, somewhere indulgent for a daytime meeting or a decadent after dinner treat, Cocolat is the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Cocolat Raine Square’s Dessert Tapas for Two features a range of desserts and bite-sized treats including two different macarons, super-rich brownies, lemon tart, chocolate mousse and vanilla ice cream.

At just $27.95 for a tasting plate for two, this would be the great end to date night and certainly enough to satisfy any pair of chocoholics.
