Pub golf is nothing new. It’s one of the age-old traditions that the young and foolish have been partaking in ever since pubs, golf and the number eighteen were invented. But hopping from bar to bar dressed as a golfer doesn’t have to mean losing the plot. It can mean having a sophisticated day-slash-night on the town.
So, whether you go your attire from somewhere snazzy like Golf World, your grandfather’s closet or a joke shop, here are our must-stop spots to enjoy a cultured trip around Perth one white wine spritzer at a time.
Hole 1: Harvest Espresso
How you start is what sets the tone for the rest of the experience, which is why we recommend you have a boozy brunch at Harvest Espresso, where some of the most Instagram-worthy breakfast dishes will float your way. Their menu changes on the fly, but their-cooked eggs are a must.
Hole 2: The Shorehouse
A morning session is not complete without a Bloody Mary and given The Shorehouse has an entire section of its menu dedicated to this drink you need to make a stop off here. There is something for everyone here, from the traditionalists to the bacon and bourbon lovers and even those that want the tequila-based Bloody Maria.
Hole 3: Strange Company
There are numerous reasons to add this stopover on your list, from the amazing selection of drinks to the incredible bar snacks that will keep you going. But the real reason the Strange Company needs visiting is the wine on tap. Yes. That’s right. It has wine. on. tap. How amazing is that?
Hole 4: Mechanics Institute
Head here for a spot of lunch. Why? Because you can really get settled into a relaxing drink on their roof terrace before getting totally tucked into any one of their mouthwatering burgers. Trust us, you won’t regret this decision, as their cocktail menu will attest. It is just one of the great eateries in Perth.
Hole 5: The Aviary
This is notorious for being one of the great places to come and hang out with a group of mates when a few afternoon drinks are in order. It’s that place to go and have a few laughs before your big night out, which is exactly why it is the perfect stop for hole 5. Casual and yet smart, stylish and yet fun; this rooftop bar with views of the city is a must.
Hole 6: Halford Bar
From the moment you step foot inside to the moment you leave, you feel about 49% more sophisticated, and that is what this whole bar crawl is aimed toward. There is something about lounging inside a 1950s inspired bolthole that makes you feel elegant and gentlemanly, as you will no doubt find out.
Hole 7: Holey Moley
The putt-putt sensation has just launched in Perth and where better to end a sophisticated game of pub golf session than a bar that lets you drink, get merry and swing a club or two? Nowhere is the answer. This is the perfect place for another cocktail while taking on the mini-golf course inside.
