A couple of quick tidbits…

Weird – feeling peckish? buy some old Apollo Mission pot roast (Boing Boing) Depressing – bigger breakfast doesn’t help weight loss. Just one sausage, thanks. (WIOD NewsRadio 610) Worrying – filtered and bottled water consumption could increase tooth decay risk (The Washington Post) Scary – a new in-store kiosk from Kraft scans your face and suggests what you should make for dinner (Eater National & Fast Company)

Tiffin at Chutney Mary’s, Rockingham

I’ve lived in the Rockingham area (about 30 minutes south of Perth city) for a couple of years now, and was pleased when popular Subiaco-based Chutney Mary’s announced that it was opening a new restaurant as part of Rockingham Shopping Centre’s “Main Street” Entertainment and Lifestyle precinct. I’ve never had the opportunity to dine inside the Rockingham Chutney Mary’s, but have ordered takeaway several times. On each occasion, I was advised a certain waiting time on the phone only to arrive and wait at least another 30 minutes. If it’s going to be an hour then tell me – you’re less likely to lose custom by being honest. If you really want to annoy me, make me stand around and wait when I’ve already purchased other hot food for my family that will be stone cold by the time I get home. Perhaps he should include a quickfire challenge to help him feed four people for under $10 (Eater National & Slashfood) Junk food we’ll never see in Australia part 1 – Burger King’s Jalapeno & Cheese Stuffed Steakhouse Burger (Slashfood) Bob’s Burgers premieres in the USA. This seems to be promising, with humour dark enough without being over the top. No doubt it will turn up in Australia on Fox8 in due course (Eater National) Man accidentally shoots himself at McDonald’s. I’ve often thought about doing that after waiting in a drive through for 30 minutes and then being told to park in a service bay ( Now available in Australia, and fully endorsed by Marcus Wareing, is the Kenwood Cooking Chef. Move over Thermomix…but at the $2,000 mark you wonder why they’re advertising it on the back page…

Welcome to Morse’s food blog

Thanks for taking the time to drop by. This blog has been inspired by my love of all things food, and a long held desire to build a website reviewing breakfast destinations in my home town of Perth, Western Australia. I’m hoping t0 do that and so much more, so expect to read about my local food experiences, recipes I’ve tried, TV shows I’ve watched and anything else food-related that catches my eye. Please bear with me as I get the hang of this. If you’d like to get in touch, drop me a line at
