Last week I was fortunate enough to be invited to a “Meet the Maker” lunch at Taylor’s Art & Coffee House in the Swan Valley.
Hosted by Buy West Eat Best, in partnership with the City of Swan, the event provided the opportunity to meet with some the region’s smaller growers and makers, and of course sample some of their great products.
We were also treated to a delicious lunch cooked by Caroline Taylor that was designed to showcase these ingredients, including some grass fed Gin Gin sirloin cooked in an old train that has been re-purposed as a wood-fired oven!
Figs were in abundance, and I was intrigued by the colours and texture of the prickly pear, but the highlight was the unfortunately named but quite delicious “grime” ice cream (grape and lime) from Kato’s at 3000.
Thanks to all involved for a fantastic lunch – and don’t forget to always Buy West Eat Best! See below for more photos from the event.
