Bib & Tucker has long been on my breakfast to-do list, and it was my first destination when an opportunity arose to head south for the day last Friday. Arriving just before 10am, I was surprised to find it very busy but thankfully there were tables available both inside and out. Looking out over Leighton Beach, it’s a scenic place to eat at any time of day.
Coffee is from Campos, and my cappuccino was very nice indeed. I spotted a dark chilli hot chocolate of the menu a little too late, unfortunately. You can see the breakfast food menu below, and some interesting choices join the breakfast essentials.I chose the house-cured pastrami hash with crispy potatoes, soft leeks, fried eggs, smoked cheddar, pretzel crumb and pickles. This was a really interesting dish, full of different flavour and texture combinations to be discovered as you work your way around the plate.
Chatting with executive chef and co-owner Scott Bridger, he told me that this dish currently fills the spot on the menu they reserve for a full-breakfast alternative. It does that job very nicely, and was made even better with lashings of the Firehorse hot sauce that Scott kindly sent over to the table.
Good coffee, great food, attentive service and a stunning view. A perfect breakfast (lunch and dinner) destination.
